A 1-minute spine mobility duo that wakes up the full back chain and adds a touch of hamstring length after long sitting bouts.

Start on all fours and move slowly between cat and cow, letting each vertebra get its turn to flex and extend. Then walk the hands out from a forward fold into a plank and back – the caterpillar walk – which adds hamstring length and core demand. Slow, but covers a lot of joint territory.

Segmental spine mobility tends to decline with desk-bound lifestyles, particularly in the mid-back. Gentle daily flexion and extension is linked to better thoracic mobility – one of the strongest predictors of upright posture.
